Default Orange Spot Filefish

I have always loved these fish. They are just so different. I managed to get my hands on two about a year ago, and one refused to eat anything while the other was slowly trained from live sps onto prepared foods. He went into my display tank and died mysteriously about a week later.

So, I finally have another chance to keep these guys. Guess what's arriving Saturday!

That's right, not one but THREE of 'em. They will be quarantined until they are eating well and then they will go in my 60 gallon cube with the ponies. I'll keep you guys posted. Let me know if you have any questions!I'm so excited for them to arrive!!!!

Those are some beautiful fish. I take it these are safe with seahorses which is great. I can't wait to see how they look in your tank.

Hopefully they adjust well and you will have better luck with them than your previous ones.

Thanks guys! Breeding would be awesome, although I don't think I am anywhere near experienced enough to be successful. Matt Pederson, the guy that has bred these guys really inspired me. I was picking up a fish from him and when I saw these guys, I knew I had to have one.

Seahorse.org list this as a threat level 4 tank mate (highest threat). Guess that fish won't be considered for my seahorse tank.

Thanks so much Jason!! I'll be sure to read through that. The site said that they were already trained to eat frozen mysis and live brine so hopefully they won't need to be trained. Diver's Den fish are usually pretty healthy.

Techguy,I saw that too, then I saw this exclamation:

4 - these specimens either have no business in a seahorse tank, or should not be kept in captive systems due to failure to thrive.

These fish fit that traditional profile. But when they're eating prepared foods, it's different. I know people that have kept them with ponies with no problems.

Congrats Blake

Ellen did have a pair of those that was eating frozen mysis. She had a problem with a certain little grandson she thinks and they both jumped out of the tank. They are a beautiful fish just not that hardy.

Good luck hope they do good for ya.

Thanks guys! I'm just as excited as you are. That's too bad about Ellen's pair. That reminds me, I have to build a lid for the 60 gallon. There will be no jumpers here!

Thanks Barb! I will post pics as soon as they arrive. I am going to use clear screen. I had a lid with it already made, but it got damaged. That's what happens when you have 3 younger siblings.
