The female did not eat yesterday. Possibly due to the stress of the divider. I'll try again today. The male is a total pig. He's eating very well.
Also, LiveAquria still has my other female! The guy who placed the order has not talk to them for me, I'm not allowed because it was "his" order. As soon as he calls me back I'll let you guys know.. |

That's great news! I am very happy you will not only be getting your third filefish but you won't have to pay for additional shipping.

do you think they will eat sps even after being trained onto frozen foods? I don't remember if Matt had any sps in their tank or not.

Matt reported that after being trained onto frozen foods they showed no interest in sps. However, I'm not so sure that I would call them trained... There might still be a chance that they would eat sps if offered. I'll see if I can get some.

Bad news. The male is not doing well. Last night he was eating like a pig and acting completely normal, and now he is laying on the bottom of the tank breathing heavily. I have no idea why.He was fine this morning before I left for work. The female seems fine. I'm going to test the water to be sure.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure this is the end of the line for the male.
I just wish I knew what the problem was. He was doing so well just 24 hours ago! It's really frustrating. Also, the female is not eating. I am going to get some sps on thursday to try with her. |

Thanks for the well wishes guys. Ozzie, the QT has been setup for about a week now, I set it up a couple days before the arrived and seeded the tank with a sponge filter from one of my seahorse fry tanks. I always do that when I start up a new tank and it has worked well so far.

It's possible. It also might explain why the female was nibbling on day 1 and stopped on day's 2 and 3. I feed that tank heavily but always let the food sit for an hour at the most and suck it all out with a water change.
Maybe I'll move the females in with my seahorse juvis. in the 46 gallon. Thoughts? Click the link in my sig and go to the second or third page to see pics of the tank if you haven't seen it. |

Maybe I'll move the females in with my seahorse juvis. in the 46 gallon to be safe and not worry about it again. I'm not worried they have any diseases, the QT at divers den is very extensive so thats not a factor. Click the link in my sig and go to the second or third page to see pics of the tank if you haven't seen it. The juvis willl eat any left over mysis and the sexy shrimp should eat the left over nutramar ova. What do you guys think? |

The male is gone. I put him in the freezer in the hopes that I can get a refund. They say they have a 14 day guarantee but I don't know if that applies to divers Den. We'll find out tomorrow .
Really pisses me off to put this guy in the freezer. He is so fat. Yet the female still wont eat.

Ugh - I hate it when fat and, at least on the surface, healthy looking fish die - Why can't we read their minds yet?
RIP mr file fishie
