we are actualy on the net as south east queensland aquarium society.
I will put on a few of the places here SEQ we go to and some species we commonly collect here as well. There was alot more to copy over but the pic allowance is only 15. I am the only one that bothers copying our trips off our site to promote us out on the net these days ,so hope you like what we do here as the club has been carrying out these types of trips for over 80 years and far bigger trips in the recent distant past as there were over 20 large boats in the club until between 20 to 15 years back until net took over. This spot is around 37 ks out to sea next to a major island from bris and on a calm day this reef and rock pool litteraly has the barrier reef in it to enjoy, this day dave dropped us off and we swim into the rock pool from the boat as the water around this reef is on average is 115 feet deep. ![]() another spot down the gold coast we go to regularly in summer. ![]() This our club pres in the water collecting first on our club sponsored BBQ boat trip for collecting and luunch. ![]() The is one of the many Pomacanthus semicirculatus, heaps around this year!Thousands of tube worms as well. ![]() Shane wanted this pineapple fish, ayways heaps of them around the place and you have to snorkel a little deeper for them. ![]() There is always quite a few coral beauties around even on the shore dives,as with all the angels. ![]() Always hundreds of small blues tanges out here. ![]() Never any shortage of bigger blue tanges, some to 2 feet in size. We don't normally bother with moorish idles, but this one was gotten for mark, one of the clubbies, from a discusting area and there are no corals or much of anything else there really, they are tougher that way and this one was eating out of your hand in just few days in the tank. ![]() This is the average colour of the melanopus clowns around here. ![]() We see heaps of these though in a tank with quite a few life forms they become dinner when they shed so we normally leave them. ![]() We get a few of these roughies or (trachichthys australis) Just like a pinneapple fish,no need for a net,oh they grunt very loud just like a pinneapple fish as well. ![]() We get a few of these imperators each year if any of the clubbies want any. ![]() The latezonatus are one of the most common clown fish around here. ![]() we see around a couple of hundred or so each 7 year cycle roughtly out here of the conspicts, this one was caught for marks new big tank. ![]() Always heaps of clown triggers around, two were let go and replaced with small ones this year, they get big and nasty quite fast.

We are not allowed to collect corals over here! All life forms go to members tanks that want them or ask for certain creatures for their tanks to be caught for them if they are afraid of the water or can not be there on a trip.
Of late it has been mostly marks and robs tanks that get every thing other than what we get for our selves. Mark has a 15feeet by 8 feet swimming pool tank and a new 5 foot cube and three 5 foot tanks and another small swimming pool tank and thats not his two quarantine tanks either. Rob has two 6 footers,i have 5 three footers and two 2 footers and the rest of the members have mainly 4 to 6 footers except one,he has several nanos. There are 4 members set ups i have never seen, but they are supposedly 4 to 6 footers as well. as you can see Marks 46 thousand dollar set up is the biggest and for me far to much work. He doesn't get in the water much so a lot of the fish and inverts go into his tanks and he brings a long some biscuits and cake for the meetings for all of us,we get for them they have to cater for meetings. Oh and pinneapple fish, yes very reef safe, they eat very tiny shrimp and pods and planktonic sized creatures that they attract and see with there little head lights under their eyes that they use at night, hence the name port and starboard fish, you can train them to eat with the other fish with a lot trickery. i had 12 in one two foot tank once and at night they would light up the room with this eire glow. There is no reason for much study anymore, there isn't much more from our area to learn just the changing environmental conditions and there affects on life forms out here,we just have heaps of references to what has been learnt and get on with fun trips and a successful hobby.

Yeh they are an indemic fish so they would be expensive, the only other one like it comes from japan.
If you go to get one get some brine shrimp and copepods and anything else you can going as in breeding them sepperately and they will do well. Raising high protein brine are very easy on animal waste,my dad used to breed our planktonic foods for the tanks in the late 70s on that type of thing and he did really well at it,nice fat pink brine shrimp. See yah.

Hey pkc!
![]() Those are magnificent photos...and unbelievable how readily available the fish we pay lots of money for here are! Would love it if you would continue to share photos and experiences with us... And please ask Mark and Rob to join up on the forum...we'd really like to see photos of all of their tanks too!
