Can I add one clown with my full grown clown?

Default Can I add one clown with my full grown clown?

I have a very mature large false clown and want to try to add another to get a matted pair. Is this possible? Has anyone tried adding a small clown to an existing large clown? Would it be best if I tried to get the large clown out of the tank and put the small one in first, then add the large one back? Or put them in a controlled smaller tank to get them used to each other?

thanks for any advice

I would add them to a smaller tank at the same time so there is no territory's set up. But keep a very close eye on them just to be safe.

I've had good luck adding them. The only time I had a problem was when I added a black and white. I have clowns in my DT and they never fight.

I too have had good luck adding a smaller clown with a larger female, they quickly became tolerable from each other and fairly quickly became inseparable.

I think with ocellaris you will be ok but if it were almost any other species i would suggest accumulating them to each other.

How big are each of the fish?

I agree with the consensus scubagal.........you should be fine adding a smaller ocellaris directly to the tank....just keep your eye on them just in case (we tried adding a smaller saddleback and forget it! the small one was gone the next day! too much stress and it was gobbled up by the carpet ) .........so did you add one yet?

no not yet. I am moving in august and want to wait to add anything new until after the move. plus I'm a college student and funds are tight right now. Once I get a real job I plan on adding a lot to my tank!!

I will let you know when I do add one!
