Anyone got any diy air intake silencer plans for a skimmer?

My intake is kinda big, I think the hose is like 3/8 to 1/2" in dia and I can hear my skimmer clear across the house.

Yes you can make one easily. Take a plastic film canister or an aspirin bottle or anything like that with a lid that snaps shut. Drill a hole on each end just big enough to slip the air line into it. Slip the air line from the skimmer in one end and another piece of hose in the other end and you are done

something about sound transmission being linear in nature, i think, as the two tube openings are past each other there is no direct pickup? I use 1'' pvc and endcaps, truly amazing and Im even more amazed someone isn't selling them

I did it with a pill bottle and it helped but not much, just changed the sound a bit.

Do the tubes run past each other in the bottle?

yes. you need to run the one coming from the skimmer into the bottle almost to the other end and then the other one gos into the other end of the bottle and runs almost to the other end also.

Let me see what i have laying around so i can take a pic and show you what im talking about.

LOL that thing finally got the better of me and I had to silence it. Sounded like a jet airplane after you fixed it up for me Luke. It is skimming very nicely, with that and the AZ-NO-3 my trates went from 20ppm to zero in about 3 weeks.
