Gu10 led diy
So I ordered 4 of the cool white and 2 of the blue lights. They are all 3X1W bulbs. I'm going to put them over one of my breeding tanks and add a nem to it to see if the lighting will work with it. I'll post up pics when they get in (about two weeks).

I'm trying to find a cheap way to put them on a moving system. Just in a circle over the top of the tank. That way the whites and blues get spread out.

What size tank are you going to put it over? With mine i take the optics off and epoxy the LED disk to the heatsink and just run them without optics but closer to the tank. That method you need some sort of acrylic shield guarding the LEDs but they spread out 120 degrees.

Probably a 20 gallon that I have. Not sure yet. If they do good, I'll order more and set it up on a larger tank.

I think I spent $30. I got 4 cool white, 2 blue, and 6 sockets. i'm going to use wood for a mount. I'm sure I have plenty of scrap around.

just joined today. Greetings from South Louisiana. happen to notice this thread. I have been using the gu10 leds. No problems so far. Had 7 (4 blues and 3 cool whites) over 10 gal for about 6months. kept a BTA, Xenia, and some zoas. Upgraded to a 110 gal. and now run 33 Gu10 over it. moved everything over and added maxima clam, birdsnet, grn slimer, pineapple coral, and a RBTA. The 110 has been setup since oct-nov. everything seems to be doing good and is happy.

following corals neon green birds nest, pineapple brain coral, maxima clam, 4 diff types of zoa's,candy cane, green slimer, BTA hosting 2 GSM clowns. the BTA is the oldest of them all he started out in my 10 gal. He was about 4" dia. now 8 to 10 dia. got him back in october. If i remember correctly depth is 24 or 28 inches.

I got my blue lights last week. Cool white came in today. Waiting on the sockets now. I hope they come in soon. I even cut a cord off of an old distribution box. It's all ready to go.
When the sockets come in I'll drill the holes in wood and get them secured. I hate to make them to big.

I got the sockets in yesterday. wired it last night. I'm using liquid tape on the connections. I'm fixing to drill the holes in the wood as soon as I can get motivated. Dang dog woke me up before 8!
