Default sump

Guna be building my new sump in the next like 2 hours, but have a few minor questions.

I originally bought 1/8 inch plexiglass, but my brother seems to think it should be thicker (1/4 inch) just curious if it would make a difference as far as stability in my baffles?

And as far as silicone is there anything specific needed or can it be just a regular silicone sealant?

As long as it's just directing water and not performing any type of structural support, 1/8 inch should be fine.

Are you gluing these into a glass tank or acrylic one?

also - be careful what silicone you use - you want to be sure it DOES NOT have any mold inhibitors in it - as those are poisonous. Has to be 100% silicone, nothing else

Go to Grainger and get Momentive RTV108 (clear), or RTV103 (Black). Reef safe and best tensile strength, only about $11 for the tube.

If your using a silicone from HD or Lowes, it must not be the GE2. As mentioned it contains mold inhibitors, and will kill of bacteria that is beneficial in the system.

GE1 Windows is safe. But for just a couple dollars more you can get the Momentive silicone.

---150g Custom (52x28x25) in the works.

If your going to release your captive Lionfish (or any fish for that matter), take it to your LFS. They will most likely give you a small store credit that is worth more than the gas you will spend driving to the beach.
