OK, so I think I have my order ready... is it worth the extra money to get the "Premium LEDs" as opposed to the regular LEDs from ReefLEDLights?

I've been looking, but can't seem to find the answer. What angle are the Carclo Wide Optics? And are they worth the difference in money over the LEDLink optics?

They are tight, like 40 degrees

So that means, I will be able to hang the lights a little higher above the tank then, which will help deter corrosion..

Ok well... I pulled the trigger:

48 Regular XP-E Royal Blue
48 Regular XP-E Cool White
96 Carlco Frosted Wide w/holder Optics
96 BJB Connectors
3 18" x 8.46" Heatsinks
4 Inventronics 40 watt Dimmable Controllers

It was just about $100 over my budget for the lights, so I couldn't go with the premium LEDs.

Yea.. no kidding.. I have been messing with google sketch for the last 2 hours trying to get the wiring schematic how I want it.. I'll post it in a few minutes... Gonna start another thread I think, specifically about the tank build.

So how did this turn out? I looked at your build thread but didn't see any updates?

I am also building a 96 LED DIY fixture for my custom 180g. Did it on a budget though. Here is my progress so far:

I plan on hooking the dimming up to my RKL but need to get the ALC for it, so for now just using pots. Can't wait for this to be done and see the results, very time consuming but its a fun and extremely educational project that I have put off for over a year!

How come you never built them? I'm hoping to have my LEDs up and running over the holidays, finding time to solder up and run wire for all 96 LEDs is time consuming.

Yeah, it is a lot of money especially for us with bigger tanks, but I'm hoping it will pay off in the long run. Not having to change a bulb in 7+ years will be awesome!
