a pod that eats clam mantle??? more to worry about!! anyone ever hear about this before? completely new to me, but this bstrd pod, if that's what it is, is really munching!

There are predatory amphipods but its hard to say what that one is really doing. The clam doesnt seem to be having a very strong reaction. If something was biting on me i would have a stronger reaction then what that clams having.

hmmmmmmm interesting...... though, it could be just a very hungry pod, right??
really though, nothing a freshwater bath cant fix, those pods don't last a minute in a FWB

I have seen cases of people having the same problem of amphipods munching on zoanthids. However, upon closer study and observation, they learned the pods were actually eating tissue that was already deteriorating from an infection of some sort. The infection was just not visible to the human eye yet.
Perhaps this pod was munching on an infected part of the clam's mantle, eating at dead tissue?

Could be Lady. Could also be feeding on the slim or something stuck too the slim of the clam.
