Hey all, recently I have became really fixated on clams! I have three small ones at the moment, not sure on the type, maybe some one could ID them for me?
The prices in order from top to bottom are: $55 (purple) $60 (brown) $180 (aquacultured blue) ![]() Purple:

That is true mate, I am just starting to keep them so I don't want to invest too much money in them until I'm confident enough to tackle some more challenging/amazing ones

Nice clams. How long have you had them?
They all look to be maximas. The only one that im not sure about is the bright blue one in the first pic. If you can get closer pics of all of them i can id them for you. |

Just what i thought. The blue aquacultured one is a blue squamosa. You guys in AUS seam to have no problem getting them but we never see them here. If the clam you have were to go up for sale here people would be fighting over it to pay $800 or more.

What do I need to do to keep these guys happy and growing? I dose Kent Marine Purple Tech to raise kH, calcium and mag....I also have ZoPlan (similar to Cyclopeeze) that I add occasionally...They have good flow and good light and they seem to be going well as it is! |

they don't need that stuff, and it's prolly to big for them anyway. feed the tank, that will feed the clams. how tall is the tank? lighting is most important for the clams. make sure their mantles aren't flapping in the flow also. they look great, especially the blue guy, who'd love to visit delaware. i can tell it in his eyes!

Easy done! I have noticed that the squamosa has moved itself about 90 Degrees in its current position...he must not like his spot?

They will move around for many reasons. They might not like the light or direction of flow so they turn, or too much flow or not enough light so they move. I wouldnt worry to much about it right now. Just keep an eye on them and make sure they are adding new shell.

Haha thanks mate!! I'm looking for a new one...and space to put it :/
Yeah mate for sure, have a look at my 2ft thread, plenty of pictures there! Quote:
Great to be back! I haven't really added many things...there are a few rics which you will have a hard time seeing...they are mixed in with the morphs. Just ordinary green ones. That tracy on the sand is new since the last round of photos I think. But mainly just stopped trying to spend money on it...this project has cost around $1600! |
