Ok here is another lighting question. Clams process light better in the 10,000k range in the t5HO bulbs. Here is a quote I found on the lighting.
"In the case of T-5 lighting, remember only the 10k bulbs produce enough photo energy for PAR on clams, and the actinics produce little to no PAR depending on color temperature." So what light is required? Yellow,blue,50/50? This is what I dont understand.... So if you go higher does it not help the clam? lets say 12,000K? I struggle with this do to how many diffrent bulbs are available and the diffrenht colors. I hope not to sound redundent on the lighting issue. Just need so clarification and direction. |

Where did you find that quote from?
I disagree that 10k is the only light for clams. What fixture do you have now and what bulbs (colors) do you have? Also how deep is the tank and what clam species are we talking about? |

I found the quote. Thats from ezcompany's thread. Thats was written before all the blue+ type T5's come to the market. Let us know what clam we are talking about and what bulbs/fixture you have.

For sure. Don't worry about that first one like Chris said. T5 is the way to go!

When i read this that is why I wanted to post it...... I have a T5HO Current USA model 32 inch. I know I may not be able to have a Tridacna Maxima unless I am directed properlly. This is what I am wanting to get.
Currently I have 1 stock 10,000k, 1 12,000k Actinic white 03, 1 Super actinic 420nm and 1 stock 460 actinic 460nm. My plans are to get an ATI agua blue, or blue plus. |

So you have a 4 bulb fixture? Crocea and maxima i would keep half way up in the rocks with this light. Squamosa or Derasa are fine on the bottom.
