No, they are on the lower side of light needs. Crocea's and Maxima's are on the higher end of light needs.

Here is another pic of it wide open and the best I have seen it yet! Also for some reason it really loves to be next tot he acans. Neither one bugs each other. Kinda weired.

It's looking good now! funny, my little maxima loved being next to an acan also....kept moving right to it until i put another clam in there for it to buddy up with.

I run 2 Gieseman Actinic+ 22K and 2 Aquablue+ Gieseman 15K over 2- 6 inch Derasa at about 20 inches in depth. They're doing great, but I'm wondering what other clams I can so with such lighting? I did have a large Crocea, but there was this crab. Had the clam for over a year.

4 bulbs might be a bit tough for other kinds of clams unless they can get up high in rockwork. do bulbs have individual reflectors? are they new?

Each bulb has an individual reflector. The bulbs were replaced in February. I only burn T-5's
9/10 months. We did keep the Crocea up on the rock work. Did fine until a Sally Lightfoot got its claw closed on. Down hill a month or so later.

I added a nice Barred Basslet to my tank. He ate my last Sally. It never seemed to bother my clams. Probably a good thing its gone.

Not a good picture. Could be. I was told they eat small fish. He's got a big mouth and he's about 4/5 inches long.
