I checked the nitrates tonight and I have 10ppm in the 40g and 20ppm in the 20g.

Thats strange skinz with 20gal tank. How is the skimmer skimming any stuff out. On the 20gal are you using AquaC Pro?

Yeah Ozzie, the 20g is not getting any skimmate and it was before I started using this stuff. It has the Aqua C.

I wonder if your running your skimmer to wet and thats why it's not producing enough foam to skim that rubbish out.

i hate cyano.Have you got a silicates test;; I read somewhere that high silicates causes diatoms cyano.

I wonder if there is something wrong with your AquaC skimmer Is there any cracks or maybe it needs a good clean or are they that crap of a skimmer. I remember when they first came out all the US people loved them and they were suppose to be the best

I would stop adding the azno3 until you get rid of the cyano. The cyano is using all the carbon that you want the other bacteria to use. You might also want to add some bacteria to the tank for a few weeks and then restart the azno3
