I am in the market for purchasing a unit, but would like to get the viewers opinion. I have a fish only system with a carpet anemone but would like to eventually have corals so RO/DI would be critical then. Also this tank is only 54 gallons so flow rate needs to be pretty reasonable.
And replacements, i was looking for universal equipment if possible. Any suggestions? Thanks all

most of the RO/DI units on the market will do you just fine - just make sure you get a 75-100 gpd RO membrane (as this is what determines your water flow, plus your water pressure) ... I like 5 stage filters myself, a couple carbon, sediment, RO, and then a separate for DI resin
some skip the DI, but, it doesnt hurt to keep it

I agree not to buy used, unless you plan on replacing all the filters/membranes...
kinda makes your head spin trying to figure out which to buy! give this a read... How to pick a good RO/DI unit but still post up anything you're considering and we'll check it out... Also my advice is to get a $15 TDS meter when you buy your rodi unit. |

Ok guys, good stuff... now i am learning!
Now brands, what does everyone have... are they satisfied?... are replacements readily available and cheap(per say). I know now not to buy used for the price of new ones... so i looked on ebay, does anybody recognize names? This is so foreign to me. thanks again everyone!

So i came across this cool website: bulk reef supply. Anybody have any experience?
Reverse Osmosis Systems They seem legit and "knowledgeable." I was thinking about this model in particular: 75 GPD RO/DI 4 Stage Economy System - English Barb, you are right.. a used system does not pay. Thanks everyone

I chose the Optima Professional. 75gpd 4 stage w/built in pressure gauges, in and out tds meters, warning for high tds on output, auto float setup for collection container all included. $195 before discount. I am also picking up the Aquatec permeate pump. The pump is powered from the flow of the brine/reject water, and can reduce the wasted water by up to 80%. No electricity needed to power it. $69 before discount.

Got a link? where did you order it from? Make any water yet? A with, and without that pump running thread would be awesome..I'm curious about it. like to see some actual waste comparison measurements.. Pics of your setup would be cool also.

A saltcreep. I havent ordered it yet, just picked it out. Im gonna get it from Purelyh2o. I dont know how to link the product
. They are on their page with the exact product name I gave. The rejection rate is 4-1, so that pump better do what it says. If Im dropping 500 gallons to get 100 Ill be pissed. I should be ordering it in 2-3 weeks. The tank comes in next week, I build the stand the week after that, then I plumb in the RO unit after that. I would have ordered it and put it in already, but my wife's cat ran up $1400 in vet bills the last few weeks (And still isnt better ). It pushed my time line back a bit, as we had build the coffers up a bit. Im going to measure the rejection rate w/ and without the pump, so i will be bale to tell you for sure if it works. It should, it looks like it works like a turbocharger. It uses the back pressure from the rejection to lower the pressure on the clean water side of the membrane. Seems like sound technology.

Yep thats it. Heard anything about that? It sounds like it functions just like a turbo charger. I dont want to deal with a 4-1 reject rate. Also, I think my town has pretty low tds to start with. This will make my rejection less, and my filters last longer right?
