I just want to let everyone know that we have two awesome fish stores here in the Spokane area. Aquatic Dreams has been the store that has helped me out and provided get info and help me keep on the right track. Today I showed up at the store with a broken power heard. Which Kevin took time to find the parts and even let me test it out to make sure that it was fixed? I stated that I lost my return pump in 29 Bio Cube He quickly pulls one from the shelf. I was stocked because it is not something you would fine at LFS.
The other store we have is Aquarium Solutions, Barbie will point in the right direct and advise what is need to fix or correct issues that I have. She also has a few cool fishes to see. I am thankful for both stores. I am wondering if we as a Aquarium Community, have "Nation LFS Appreciation Month”? I just want to point out in this ruff economy they sure could use our business to keep their doors. I would hate to think, how I would do if I did not have a local fish store to back me up???? I don't think I would make it in this Hobby. I am starting this thread so we can share about how great our Local fish stores are.

We have some nice stores around here. Most of the good ones have nice fish selections but corals can be hit and miss. Parts and equipment are really hard to stock. There are so many different brands that theres no way any store can stock them all.

That also depends on how you define "local".
That Pet Place has a large dry goods section, but fish and corals are hit and miss to the max. Doc Mac's has next to no dry goods, fish are hit and miss, and we know about their corals. |

Yes, local is relative. I view local as 30 minutes or less drive time so that leaves me with 4 or 5 stores.

It's also how you define a "good" store. When I lived up north we had a large beautiful store with all the bells and whistles and I thought I was lucky to live near such a store... Then I moved, and learned a bit more about the hobby, recently I went back to that store and realized that all those bells and whistles really distracted from the disasters IN the tanks!! Every disease I know of, I found there!! I couldn't believe that I was so naive previously!! Anyway, I'm lucky in that I live in an area (now) that competes for better prices and healthier more responsible stock! And I don't take it for granted! When I visit other stores, I am quickly reminded of how lucky I am!
