I stick to my neon goby and cleaners shrmp. Mostly because I think neon gobies and cleaner shrimp are cool. Get yourself a nice pr of fire shrimp. Even if they dont clear up the fish acne, you have a pr of fireshrimp! Win win.

I also add a few drops of Vitamin C about once a week in their food.

Do you notice any chemistry changes during the acne outbreak? I ask because the only time my hippo tang showed those same spots was during a 3 month cycle when i had elevated nitrates. Since they hit 0, i haven't seen a single spot ( over a year). I dont think its ick either, and from what i've read no cleaners (shrimp or other) clean ick. the white spots from ick are a result of whats happening "under" the surface....from what i've read anyway.... I bet people i the industry make a ton off of there so called ick treatments though... Several of my fish had those spots in the beginning, I never treated, and never lost any of those fish. I think it was just stress and parameters.

well i do think I'm back to having some nitrates. I haven't tested in a bit and I'm starting to get some HA. It's been gone for the most part for a while. Maybe a good water change this weekend wouldn't hurt any.

Are all shrimo similar? I know the peppermints and skunk cleaners have been easily bred and reared.

they are similar, but you have to remember the harlequins I have aren't even an inch long, where peppermints are a few inches long. Also, the diets are completely different.

Here is a breeding journal on them. Not sure on that progress to date though.

Breeding Journal: Lysmata amboinensis (Skunk Cleaner Shrimp)
