What has been the growth rate on your rics? I bought a couple nickel size ones and was wondering. One floated away and got lost in the tank as it wouldn't stay w/ the glue. I realy like the rics ,just never found them at a good price around here and was able to buy a few for $10 each.

10 each is good. under my MH lights it's ok but they seem to do better for me with PC lighting. In my frag tank I'm only running 1 very very small HOB filter and just a couple powerheads. The rics like a little dirty water.

Nice. I've got VHO's for now but this weekend it will be T-5's. I've always wanted rics and want to get some more. I've got them towards the bottom of the tank and hope they will be fine

that's a perfect place for them. I have them at all different levels under my MH lights. They are doing great with them too. I hope you find what you're looking for. They are very easy to cut also.

have you have success in much flow. I'd love to bring them out more because they are some of my favorite corals.

low to no flow is what I keep them in. I have a couple in mod flow and they don't seem happy at all.

no not yet. I'm kinda holding off. Got that new tank coming tonight.

I haven't even cut a ric in a few months. I'm letting them all grow out.

Don't have the tank with them in it tied to the rest of your set-up, so you can keep any pathogens away from the clean rics.....That would also go for zoas/palys as well. It will be better to be safe then sorry and take the chance and find out later that you introduced something to your aquacultured stock.....One thing I would look at too is only using wild collected stuff to get new color morphs. This way as you continue you can add colors that you don't have and as they are found from the wild. Over time they can be fragged and added to the clean aquacultured stock...I have some color morphs that you just can't find in aquacultured stock anywhere. eventually they will be part of my future set-up this way I can start off with some highly rarer ricordea. Not sure if you into yuma or not but that is a whole other story.
Hey Azurel! I saw your comment about color morphs and was hoping you could fill me in on this. How does it work? I just got my first ric and was wondering if they split on their own into different colors or do they have to cross breed?

thanks!

Hey Scubagal

No the color morph you have is what they will all be that come from it....Sometimes they can morph colors a bit due to lighting and water temp. But in most cases an orange will always be an orange...So will the splits.....Color morphs are just genetic traits of specific polyps....Take a look at my thread as well as Glens here for pics and you can see they come in differant colors, some rarer then others. If you have any more questions just ask or Pm.

I have no idea. I'd say close to 100 or so. I got another guys collection a couple months ago and they are doing wonderful. I just need to upgrade my lighting over my 180 so that the colors come out better.
