Why is our logo PINK?

Default Why is our logo PINK?

Since we have quite a few female members and men with wives, fiances, mothers, sisters and girlfriends, we decided that we'd join in the celebration of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, and help raise awareness of this devastating disease.

To honor this month, our logo will be pink (and depending on what monitor you're on it may be a really deep purple/pink....but you get the picture! )

I think we all have been impacted either directly or indirectly with breast cancer so it's only appropriate that we join forces and do what we can to help spread the word. We are proud to list the organizations below and hope that it helps in some small way:

I lost my Mom to breast cancer earlier this year. Needless to say I'm displaying a lot of pink this year.

Men can also get this.

Male breast cancer makes up less than 1 percent of all cases of breast cancer.

Although breast cancer in men may develop at any age, it’s usually detected in men between the ages of 60 and 70.

And many people go through this! My mum did

But being a typical male ,and not trying to make a joke of this! , but all blokes should be into Breast Cancer Awareness simply because as men, we all like breasts

A couple of years ago, on our site "we passed the hat" for this and not too many blokes gave too much, until a person said to put it in "construction workers words"

Do you like tits "hooters or what ever you call them over there"?

Then DIG DEEP! "as in do not be shy with your donation"

We ended up getting $7,000 dollars on our site

Cheers

Andrew

P.S please do not think of my comment being offensive.

I like to support Breast Cancer Awareness because it really is so rampant and it does get the most attention and funding. If they can find a way to cure / prevent breast cancer then that informaiton can be applied to all of the other cancers and hopefully, in our lifetime, they can find a way to erradicate this horrible disease.

I lost my mother-in-law to cancer a few years ago, and my father was just diagnosed with throat cancer. I do the walks, the 5Ks, the fundraisers, and the pink ribbons. I also donate all of my hand-me-down clothes, and household goods to Family Thrift (for those in Delaware it's in Newport) instead of Goodwill as the Family Thrift is operated by the Cancer Federation with all proceeds going to cancer research.

sorry to hear.

My dad went out to CO last week to move his older brother and his wife back home to MO. He has throat cancer that's really got him this time. Don't think he has much longer left either.

I lost one of my Aunt to Leukemia a year ago too. That was a rough time.

Default I am sorry.

I am sorry that cancer has affected so many lives. It is a terrible ordeal to go through and I give my support to anyone who is fighting the big fight. I give my support to the family and friends because they suffer also from the heartache and strain. I do speak from experience because I was diagnosed with cancer 4 years ago last August. In my case, it was proven by testing to be genetic . I have lost my mother and grandmother to cancer. Now that there are tests to check for genetic markers, other women in my family know they a higher risk factor then most. Lets continue to help find a cure for all cancer.

Not to play devils advocate, but everyone should focus on ALL cancer, not just specifically breast cancer. There are hundreds of forms of cancer which do not make it into the media. To focus upon one form is absurd; I am in favor of a "Cancer Awareness Month" where all maladies are represented. Just studying one type of Cancer won't necessarily imbibe treatments for other forms.

I agree andrew.......this month is "National Breast Cancer Awareness" month and thus this particular thread....not to diminish the fact that ALL cancer is bad and that a cure for ALL is what I think we all want

I am in favor of promoting "any" cancer awareness month!!! It runs rampant in my family, and we have lost many to it. Sadly my father is a Thyroid cancer survivor for 25 years, last week he started radiation treatment for lymphoma. It doesn't care who you are, male or female, what race you are, who you need to care for, how good of a person you are, it just kills!!! The horrible thing is no matter how much "Awareness" there is, a cure will never come about. It is way more profitable to keep people alive and maintained on drugs so they can be dragged along paying for daily medications while they die slowly.

Unfortunately I have experienced this first hand with physicians keeping patients alive until the monthly checks come in.....I don't want to detract from breast cancer awareness from my previous posts, but there is clearly an over emphasis on this specific type of cancer.
