Default maroons and bta

they have basically caused my 5 inch bta to completely retreat under a rock in less than a week. what's the story with mated maroons and NO nem? do i need to get one? i don't have a ton of room in the tank, but if they need one, i'll probably risk it. what kind would be best able to handle the stress they put it under without moving around the tank?

What kind of BTA is it? I had an RBTA for my maroon, and it was just fine. Maybe it's the type of bta that matters.

Paul, BTA's are a natural host of maroons. In captivity they have been reported to go to macrodactyla doreensis, cryptodendrum adhaesivum, heteractis malu, but thats it.

i know that they are supposed to be compatible, but the bta withdrew under its rock about 80 %. the maroons can barely get to it, although it looks a little better this morning.

it might just be scared.

Mine does the same thing from time to time, and there's no change in lighting or flow. I don't know what the reason it. One thing I've learned is that it likes lower salinity. It likes it around 1.022-1.023

Just give it time then. Clowns can be rough on anemones so your just might need to get used to it.

How big are the clowns?
Maroons can be rough on anemones, and female Maroons can be BBW's.

BTW, Maroons will also be hosted by a haddoni. And in my experience, they are the most likely of all clowns to be hosted by an anemone.
