My monster carpet! - Reef-Geeks

Well this baby is one that I am proud of, adore, and hate at the same time! We painstakingly researched and collected the perfect fish for our first reef tank but guess we didn't put enough research into our carpet...

At the end of our 1st year, all 24 perfect fish were gone! All urchins were gone! All snails were gone! All gobbled up by our carpet

He started out only about 4 inches in diameter...now he is well over 20"!!!

(these pics are from 2 years ago...I'll have chris take more this week!)

Its in its own tank now. Its spawned but hasn't split. No video of it eating our fish but i think i have one of us feeding it.

Those carpets are pretty deadly but still my favorite anemones

Nice carpet. I have always thought about buying one, but never found one at the right time. I do like my fish so it is probably best.

I was VERY devastated!

it ate everything except the clowns...including snails and urchins! I was so upset I put it up on ebay....got an offer for $75...then changed my mind...for as devastating as it was...I couldn't get rid of him...he's magnificent and he's only doing what he does in nature! I have heard that others keep their carpets with no worries which is why we got it to begin with...but then there are still others who DO have issues...like we did

but he's happy now in his own tank with the saddleback! And we restocked the 180g and all are doing well!

Mine never ate anything that was not given. Mine is about 12 or 13 inches across and had him for over 5 years.
